2010-02-23-Goodbye to Hazel

Hi Misolites.

The celebration of Hazel Holt's life was held today at the tanatorio across the road from Mi-Sol Park.

The service was overseen by a humanist preacher (Kathy Carson) as Hazel was not a religious person.

Amongst her effects she had left details of what she would like said at her funeral. Her son David, stood up and read out to the congregation the words that Hazel had written. It was very emotional and a very hard thing for David to do.

There was a lovely song at the beginning of the service, (which unfortunately I can't remember it's name). The hymn Jerusalem was sung, the Lord's Prayer recited and a song written and sung by David (Horizon's Clear) was played.

There were photo's of Hazel on top of her coffin. As "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was being played, Hazel's family and friends filed out and said their final goodbyes to Hazel. She will remain in our hearts for ever.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "come with me". A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
