Hi Misolites 10/11/09
In Shady's bar yesterday, I was recounting my story of the purse snatch to another Misolite. Imagine my surprise when I was told by this Misolite (accompanied by his dog) that he also had been robbed on the market. Apparently whilst walking home with his shopping trolley behind him (full of veg he had got from the market) a dastardly individual had nonchalantly walked past him, and had the cheek to steal his cauliflower!!!! Now you may think this is a funny thing, but to anyone who knows the Misolite and his dog this was a trauma of the highest order. I asked him how he was coping, and he said "it's difficult, but life goes on and I have the dog to think about".....so after offering more sympathy we left Shady's (where he was drowning his sorrows) and came home.
It was the anniversary of the opening of Shelly's Bar on Saturday, so a few of us went down to give some support. (Shelly is very ill in hospital) The music was great (for me) all the old 60's, they laid on free lasagna and chips for everyone, and we stayed until about 12. The weather is still good and we were able to sit outside a good part of the evening.
It was Karaoke in Mi-Sol Bar last night (Sunday)..everyone seemed in good spirits (no pun intended) when we arrived. There was a young girl renting from our Secretary/Treasurer from what I could make out?? Anyhooo whether or not, she had a brilliant voice and sang some lovely songs, As usual our Misolite with the green glass sang her heart out too. I like karaoke where there is a big screen with the words on, and this bar has one. yippee.
News that Linda M's mother has left Mi-Sol for good was a bit surprising, she has probably gone to live with her daughter elsewhere. I hope she has taken her broom with her, and at the least there will be one less dog running around loose that someone else has to clean up after.
The time seems to go by so quickly I just have a job keeping up. I went into the office this morning (Monday), Peter and Shelagh were both in there doing their work. I asked Peter what was the outcome of the quote put before the committee last Thursday regarding Derek & Jeff redoing the sewer system in our Circle. The drains have been an on-going problem ever since we have lived here, and I finally managed to get Derek to put in a quote to fix them for once and for all. Peter said the committee have decided to get 2 other quotes for the work in line with the policy of 3 quotes for each job to be done on Mi-Sol. Unfortunately, Peter has been so busy he hasn't had time to get in touch with anyone to come out and do the quotes, so until this happens we will have to have ask for Ray to come down and rod them (the drains that is) which seems a bit unfair when they could be fixed. I was told by Peter that he hasn't had time to design a new computer database at the moment as he is overworked as it is...(I could have helped???) I don't actually know what is wrong with the old database, I was under the impression that a Misolite was helping to remove the layers of queries left behind by the previous treasurer.
Two of us went up to the Shaper's exercise club situated above St.James Gate. Really enjoyed it!! They do a holidaymaker offer whereby you pay one month on and one month off, or whatever suits you once you have become a member. It is 29 Euros to join and 35 euros per month thereafter.
Really sad news is that Danny Williams's place has been burgled. Real lowlife who must have been given a tip off from someone living on Mi-sol. They went into the circle and cut the electrics to make sure the alarm didn't go off.
Turned the place upside down and inside out looking for money presumably.
Another Misolite came into the office this morning and was telling us about the people living in 610, apparently the garage has a family living in it and 610 itself is occupied by Germans. They can't say for sure what is going on, but there are cars coming and going day and night and a lot of the people visiting 610 are Columbians. So you must make your own mind up....what do Columbians mean to you?? These people visiting 610, when unable to gain access via the gate, think nothing of climbing onto and over the wall of the place next door. As Clara is the owner of this property, the police should be informed that she is not doing anything to propagate good neighbourhood relations or anything else for that matter.
There was a meeting in the bar today, I will write about it later, but for now Maggie has asked me to let people know that the bar will be doing Christmas Day Dinner, Boxing Day Buffet and a New Year's Eve Do
