Hi Misolites,
Well for the first time in the history of Mi-Sol Park, Iberdrola have cut off the electricity.
Of course, no-one seems to know anything about it. My other half, his friend together with the grand-daughter of a committee member hot-footed it up to the Bank. The Bank Manager was very obliging and immediately told them that the direct debit had been cancelled on the 19th June by our Administrator or the person dealing with the bank account. As only two people have access to the bank account it must have been either the President or the Treasurer.
I did ask for access to the Bank Account just after the AGM 2010 and was told categorically by the President herself that under no circumstances would anyone other than herself or the treasurer be allowed access to the Bank Account, as if I had it then everyone would want it. I asked who would be checking the bank statements, and was basically told to mind my own business.
The Bank Manager in the presence of the above Mi-Sol residents then proceeded to telephone Iberdrola. The phone was set to speakerphone so the Spanish Resident could hear and interpret. The information from Iberdrola was that the Electric Bill had not been paid in June, July or August. Three letters and the bills had been sent to Mi-Sol Park by Iberdrola and all had been ignored. The Bank Manage spoke perfect English and confirmed that everything being said by the Spanish resident was correct. He then carried on speaking to Iberdrola and told them that there were over 200 houses on Mi-Sol Park. Iberdrola then stated that the electric would be switched back on. The residents then asked when this would happen, and were told either today (Tuesday) or tomorrow (Wednesday) . The Bank Manager thanked Iberdrola and the phone conversation was ended.
The Bank Manager then stated to the residents that the Direct Debit had been re-instated that morning. We do not know whether this was done in person or electronically. But, was done after the Electricity had been cut off. He went on to say that anyone could verify these events by telephoning Iberdrola.
Who will be taking responsibility for compensating the residents of Mi-Sol Park for the loss of defrosted food?
As this is published at 8.o'clock the electricity is still not on.
