Hi Misolites, 2009/01/13
All I seem to do at the moment is apologize, sooooo once again I am soooo soorrriiieee for the long delay in writing this blog.
These are NOT excuses, but reasons. Number one reason:- I have had friends staying with me so I have been out and about more than usual...naughty naughty I know, but hey, I need a life, a little drink here and a lie-in there.....I just don't know where the time goes. Number two reason....I have been poorly...all together now...aaahhhhh. Number three reason.. I have been helping the president getting the Mi-Sol accounts up to date. Anyway that's my story and that is what I am sticking to.
Mi-Sol Park was very quiet during the period between Christmas and New Year, although we had our usual spate of break-ins. Very strange break-ins as it goes, a lot of clothes and kitchen crockery and utensils were stolen. One of the Lock-ups was broken into, but nothing was taken. Several of our Spanish members appear to have been targeted this time, but not heard much about any English being broken into, although someone had a bicycle stolen which was locked up on their patio. Let’s hope that the New Year brings an end to these opportunist burglaries. On another note, our lawyer is looking into the matter of the gates; apparently the person who has objected to the gates doesn't even live on Mi-Sol Park!!! I just wish it didn't take so long for things to happen in Spain.
Many of the Mi-Sol residents together with their friends spent New Year's Eve at the Mi-Sol Bar. John Marsh supplied the Karaoke, and the usual suspects got up to sing, Miss Strop being particularly good singing “All That Jazz”.. I think everyone enjoyed themselves, I know we did, although next New Year I think several of us will club together and take our own party accompaniments, grapes etc. they were a little bit conspicuous by their absence. The New Year seemed to arrive without any of us noticing it at first, and then there was a mad scramble to get up and do “Auld Lang Sang” etc. the Spanish let off a fine display of fireworks on the corner opposite the Kiosk so that all the old people in the home could see them.
A lot of kissing, groping and congratulating went on, which more or less lasted until the English New Year was upon us. We must have tuned into the wrong TV channel as several Misolites were disappointed not to see the usual firework display over the Thames...The dancing continued until approximately 1.30am when The Karaoke master started to pack away his equipment.. Several of the Misolites were not ready for their beds and so decided to wander up to “Murphy’s-on-the-Park” to see what was going on there.
When they arrived, the act had just finished but as several of their other friends were hanging about drinking, loitering and dancing to the music we all decided to stay to see if we could learn anything.
We took our lessons very seriously, several Misolites were taught the correct way to dance once you have had a drink (this does not include waving your arms about like a lunatic). Our favorite weapon against the Spanish when playing pool was there, in a fab dress which was said to be designer...but we don't know which one. Several drinks and several lessons later, old age started to catch up with most of us and taxis were called to get us back to Mi-Sol. The stronger sex (female of course) managed this without any trouble whatsoever, the men were not so lucky they unfortunately had to walk home. What a shame...hahahehe.... the next day we all went up to St James's Gate and had a lovely 3 Euro breakfast (including a drink!!!) sitting outside in the sunshine.
Whilst we were sat there we were joined by Tara and her master, after a bit of friendly?? banter we decided to go and see what was occurring at Shady's. the answer to that was "not a lot"...a few more drinks and a bit more banter, and we decided to meander our way home, have a rest and get ready for a Chinese meal in the evening. So, this is exactly what we did.
Things returned to normal the next day (Friday) so off to the market the ladies went, shopping trolleys in tow, purses clutched tightly to their bosoms..."you won't get my purse, you pick pocketing layabout" (this is a family blog)
After we had sussed out all the bargains, we wound our way home via the 1 Euro cafe place. After a cake, coffee and tortilla we were ready to face the walk home...
From Saturday onwards life has returned completely back to normal. It is very quiet on the Park; our new President is running around like a blue-assed fly trying to keep all the different balls in the air at once. She is managing to do a grand job..hip, hip, hooray for the new presidente. The open question and answer forums in the Bar are going down particularly well. Most of the residents coming in for a coffee; and to get answers to their own particular questions.
The weather has been a bit disappointing, cloudy, overcast and occasionally rain, but....NOTHING like the tourists visiting the British Isles have had to put up with. I hope the locals have been quick with offers of umbrellas and hot soup. Nooooo......I wonder why not!!!!
We have had more wall art done on the boundary wall, excellently done...photos will be posted asap.
The Argentinean community member has been very busy and has done an excellent job of getting the common areas of Mi-Sol Park looking a lot better. I think we really must try to get a works party together and get some of these common area's covered and stoned.
We have had several Misolites returning to get away from the horrid weather in the UK. APYME have been very lax in getting the bills ready for posting, but luckily our new president has taken charge and sent out the bills via the Mi-Sol Park database. Several Misolites have already paid their bills and no doubt everyone else will be following their example as soon as they can (myself included).
I notice the two from Yarmouth are back on site although I haven't seen them, as they haven't got a computer out here in Spain, I will have to rely on my friend using facebook (scardy cat) you know who you are to tell them that I am not too pleased with the false rumour they circulated earlier this year implying one of them was going to stand for president. Back to Yarmouth with them I say!!!!
Apparently there are a couple of men going around Mi-Sol park who are up to no good. One is pretending to be a charity collector for orphan children. .He definitely is NOT. The other says he wants to buy on Mi-Sol Park, but what is he looking at 9.30 at night in the dark??? Answers on a postcard please.
Please, Misolites be extra vigilant and keep your doors locked even in the day time.
A certain young person?? on the committee is being kept extremely busy doing this, that and the other. All of Mi-Sol needs to be grateful for the work he is doing completely unpaid. The only thing that I would say to him is "That will teach you to learn Spanish, smartass"....only joking, before I get loads of abuse via email.
Well, me little chickadees..I have to go, cake and Baileys are calling me.
Keep all the new years resolutions that you made and keep warm.
Will write again soon
